These Nail Clippers from Ancol are specifically designed to help trim the claws of small animals comfortably and safely. They have a non-slip handle and a semi-circular groove in the blade to help you check that the correct amount of claw is being removed. The clippers are approximately 12cm long.

Pets should be comfortable and relaxed before having their claws trimmed. It is recommended that only the very end of the claw is cut to avoid cutting the quick. Long nails should be trimmed slightly every few days to encourage the quick to recede naturally. It is advisable to seek guidance from a vet or experienced groomer before trimming your pet's claws for the first time, to gain expertise and be confident that you can trim the claws safely.

Should I get help to trim the claws?
If you are at all uncertain, yes, your vet or an experienced groomer will do this for you. If you feel confident to do it, ensure your pet is calm and still. It may help to wrap your pet in a towel and have another person hold them.

How do I use the Nail Clippers?
Hold your pet's toe firmly, keeping it still. Open the clippers and place them over the very end of the claw. It is important to trim just the very ends of the claws. Cutting too much can cut the quick (the vein that runs through the claw). For pets with dark claws, it is difficult to see the quick so, no matter how long the claws are, proceed with caution.
