Rabbit Awareness Week 2025: How to Create a Happy, Hoppy Home
Rabbit Awareness Week (RAW) is an annual UK campaign dedicated to improving the lives of domestic rabbits through education and awareness. This year, it runs from 23 to 27 June 2025, with a focus on helping rabbits live in environments that support their natural behaviours. The theme? Happy, Hoppy Homes.
At Twigs & Burrows, we’re passionate about helping every rabbit live a life full of movement, curiosity, and natural joy. Whether your bunny lives indoors or out, here’s how to give them a home they’ll truly love.
Why Happy, Hoppy Homes Matter
Rabbits are intelligent, active animals who need much more than a hutch and food bowl. They need room to hop and stretch, space to explore, and a daily routine that mimics their natural behaviours — foraging, digging, chewing, and socialising.
Sadly, many still live in spaces that are too small or unstimulating. This year’s Rabbit Awareness Week is about changing that.
3 Ways to Make Your Rabbit’s Home a Happy One
1. Give Them Space to Move
Your rabbit should have at least 3m x 2m of space to explore — that’s the minimum! Indoors or outdoors, this space should include shelter, safe flooring, and areas to run, stretch, and relax.
2. Add Natural Enrichment
A stimulating environment is key to a happy rabbit. Try adding:
-
Forage blends with dried leaves and herbs.
-
Chew-safe twigs and natural gnaws.
-
Seagrass tunnels and hideouts.
-
Scatter feeding and foraging toys.
These small additions go a long way in reducing boredom and promoting well-being.
3. Focus on a Natural Diet
Rabbits thrive on a diet that reflects what they’d eat in the wild:
-
Unlimited hay.
-
Daily fresh greens.
-
Hand-picked forage like dandelion, plantain, mulberry, or raspberry leaves.
-
Natural flower mixes for added variety.

Celebrate RAW With Us
Every rabbit deserves more than the basics. This week, we invite you to take a fresh look at your bunny’s environment. Could they use more space? More textures to explore? A new tunnel or favourite leaf?
Let’s make every rabbit’s home a happy, hoppy one.
